  • Healing Species named as Linking Partner with Trident United Way LINKS to Success Program, June 2012
  • 2011 David W. Robinson Catalyst Award Winner recognizing Healing Species for their leadership, creativity, vision and commitment to community
  • Cheri Brown Thompson receives BEST OF PHILANTHROPY AWARD honoring community champions - from the Central Carolina Community Foundation, September 2011
  • South Carolina Secretary of State "Angel Award" for non-profit orgranizations who utilize the highest percentage of their funds for program efforts and the least for administration costs, 2007
  • 2010 South Carolina Department of Education approved the Healing Species Program as a "Propitious New Model Program" for at-risk students
  • Meets all SC Dept. of Education Standards for Health and Safety and Character Education, plus additional standards in English Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Visual Art
  • Healing Species' outstanding outcomes were published in the Journal of Youth Violence and Junvenile Justice, January 2008
  • Received the "Community of Character" Compassion award in Orangeburg, SC, 2003
  • Founder was nominated for the Volvo for Life Award two years in a row, 2006 and 2007, making it to the top five each time
  • Healing Species was titled "Best of the Best" by the South Carolina Department of Education in the arena of Character Education
  • Healing Species was one of only three organizations representing Orangeburg County, leading them to win the "National All-American City Award"
  • Healing Species Founder, Cheri Brown Thompson, won the 2007 national Traditional Home Magazine "Classic Woman Award" for women who make a difference
